Events Near Us In March 2023

Spring is almost with us here in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, and we’re excited to see what the brighter days and longer nights will bring for us this year. It’s great to be able to start thinking about enjoying our Element Bar & Kitchen menus and drinks out on the terrace once again!

Here’s a list of a few things going on in the area this March, helping you to make the most of your stay with us here at The Comet Hotel London Hatfield.

Hertford Museum

Hertford Museum collection is immense, with in excess of 100,000 objects. Collections include archaeology, paper ephemera, ethnography, fine art, geology, natural history, photographs, social history and the Hertfordshire Regiment collection. Unexpectedly, the Museum also cares for the largest collection of toothbrushes in the world. Who knew?

On March 21st you are invited to Hidden Art In Hertfordshire: A Talk By Ann Marie Parker – Ann Marie is a regular at the Museum with her talks on different topics, often about books or art. Come and find out about different forms of art she has found around Hertfordshire.

March 25th is Panshanger Study Day at the Museum. Delve into the history of Panshanger, Hertfords much loved country park, with a series of talks on the house and estate followed by a guided walk around the park itself.

Hatfield House

Hatfield House is arguably the most famous of our local attractions,  a real delight with a beautiful and important collection of furniture and artworks. Hatfield House features some of the very finest period Jacobean architectural features, including the elaborately carved Grand Staircase, dating from 1611. Something of a national treasure. They also host a number of events every month, showcasing both the House and the Gardens.

March 18th – Hatfield Park Supports NGS – Once again Hatfield Park will be supporting the National Gardens Scheme charity by opening the West Gardens of Hatfield House on Saturday 18th March ahead of the official 2023 season. The takings from the day will be split between the National Garden Scheme and a charity of Lady Salisburys choosing.

March 19th – Dogs and Daffs Charity Walk – Banish those winter blues and put your best foot forward in aid of Riding for the Disabled Association. Come along to the Stable Yard at Hatfield Park with your pooch to take part in the Fun Dog Show, or just come and enjoy the spectacle.

March 26th – The Luxury Wedding Fair – A simply wonderful Wedding Fair held in the historic Old Palace and contemporary Riding School at Hatfield House. Ideal if you are seeking suppliers or ideas for your own special day.

March 28th – Lady Salisburys 15th Annual Coffee Morning & West Garden Preview – Lady Salisbury will be hosting her 15th Annual Coffee Morning in The Old Palace, along with a preview of the West Garden. Best behaviour, everyone!
