The nights are drawing in and the leaves are starting to fall as we head into autumn. There may still be some days when the weather allows some time to sit on our terrace and enjoy drinks and more from our Element Bar & Kitchen, but we shall see. Here are a few suggestions of things to do in the local area close to us at The Comet Hotel London Hatfield for the month of October.
Harry Potter Studio
It is of course Halloween this month, and we recommend a short trip to see Dark Arts at the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour. On until 5th November, it’s a chance to step inside the Harry Potter film sets, but with a darker, spookier twist. Experience Halloween at Hogwarts, hunt for the Dark Mark of Voldemort and the Death Eaters, learn wand combat, and much more… It’s a fun day out for all the family, and an easy journey of just 25 minutes drive from us at The Comet Hotel London Hatfield. Discover more and enter the world of Harry Potter HERE.
Mill Green Museum
Hatfield’s fascinating and informative Mill Green Museum is a restored 18th Century working watermill, harnessing the power of the river Lea to grind grain into flour, part of a 1,000 year history of milling on the site. It’s always worth a visit, and this month they are hosting a family crafts week at Mill Green Watermill from 23rd – 27th October, which could be perfect for October half-term. Each day brings a different activity, including apple printing, clay hedgehogs and leaf puppets, rounded off by Spooky Sunday. Find out more about the museum and events HERE.
Hatfield House
For those looking towards making their special day truly unforgettable, The Luxury Wedding Fair on 22nd October could be the one for you. Held in the historic Old Palace and Riding School at Hatfield House, with over sixty leading wedding professionals from Hertfordshire and beyond, and part of the Old Palace will be decorated and dressed for a wedding for inspiration. The courtyards shops and galleries will be open for you to browse and enjoy. Thinking ahead to the Christmas season, you may wish to purchase advance tickets for the Fantastical Christmas Revels at Hatfield House. A Christmas experience like no other, as you enter the realm of Tudor festivities with Queen Elizabeth I hosting the fantastical revels, a journey through time and tradition, where yuletide merriment meets regal majesty. Wander through the West Garden, past the Knot Garden, and into the Victorian Kitchen, encountering imposing Tudor creations, from a majestic carriage to merry mummers captured in the moment as they perform their festive plays.
