The Watermill, Mill Green

This 18th Century restored working watermill is a remarkable piece of machinery. It harnesses the power of the river Lea to grind grain into flour and is part of a 1,000 year history of milling on this Hatfield site.

See the mill in action and the Miller will explain more about this ancient craft, exploring how wheels and cogs, big and small, work together to move grain through the mill stones to turn it into flour. With an accompanying museum, garden and fabulous cafe, this makes a great day out for all the family.
